Revelation 7:9–17 (NASB) After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could count, from every nation and all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and palm branches were in their hands; 10 and they cry out with a loud voice, saying,
19
Revelation 7:9–17 (NASB) “Salvation to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.” 11 And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures; and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, 12 saying,
20
Revelation 7:9–17 (NASB) “Amen, blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might, be to our God forever and ever. Amen.” 13 Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, “These who are clothed in the white robes, who are they, and where have they come from?”
21
Revelation 7:9–17 (NASB) 14 I said to him, “My lord, you know.” And he said to me, “These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. 15 For this reason, they are before the throne of God; and they serve Him day and night in His temple;
22
Revelation 7:9–17 (NASB) and He who sits on the throne will spread His tabernacle over them. 16 They will hunger no longer, nor thirst anymore; nor will the sun beat down on them, nor any heat; 17 for the Lamb in the center of the throne will be their shepherd, and will guide them to springs of the water of life; and God will wipe every tear from their eyes.”

27
Faithful to the King John writes to encourage us to persevere through hardship, even martyrdom, because Christ is coming and keeping His promise.
28
Faithful to the King The delay in God’s judgment serves 3 purposes:
it gives the ungodly time to repent; it confirms the guilt of those who do not, and it proves the faith of those who belong to Christ
29
Faithful to the King Knowing and believing how it ends for us should impact how it currently is for us. Where we fix our gaze will impact how we order our days.
30
Sermon in a Sentence To stay faithful in the midst of trying times 1) our vision of the people in God’s Kingdom must be vast and specific (9); 2) we must be clothed with blood-washed robes of righteousness (9, 13–14), and 3) we must trust that God is worthy of worship and faithful to keep His promise (10–11; 15–17).
31
Faithful to the King 1. Our vision of the people in God’s Kingdom must be vast and specific (9).
32
Faithful to the King This gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. Matt 24:14
33
Faithful to the King John sees “the vast throng who worship God and the Lamb” (Thielman, 627).
34
Faithful to the King When adversity comes, we are tempted to settle for a limited vision of God’s salvation – to allow what we see or what seems possible with our own limited resources to dictate our vision rather than to be captivated by what John sees.
35
Faithful to the King The multitude includes people from every nation and all tribes and peoples and tongues. John mentions this seven times in Revelation (5:9; 7:9; 10:11; 11:9; 13:7; 14:6; 17:5).
36
Faithful to the King Don’t accept the generalizations of the world about this or that group of people – God is at work!
37
Faithful to the King There are 3 billion people living in 6,690 people groups which have very few, if any, believers.
38
Faithful to the King A people group is “a significantly large grouping of individuals who perceive themselves to have a common affinity with one another…[it] is the largest group within which the Gospel can spread…without encountering barriers of understanding or acceptance. (Joshua Project)
39
Faithful to the King Faithfulness comes when the eyes of faith allow us to stare through adversity and see Christ winning the nations.
40
Faithful to the King You want to get through your depression, anxiety, marital difficulties, body-image issues – fix your eyes on what matters in the end and then work and pray toward it.
41
Faithful to the King 2. We must be clothed with blood-washed robes of righteousness (9, 13–14).
42
Faithful to the King These are the ones who are coming out of the great tribulation, and they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb (v. 14).
43
To be in the presence of God, we must be clean.
Faithful to the King To be in the presence of God, we must be clean.
44
Faithful to the King Every human in heaven is dressed in the white robes of the righteousness of God which comes “through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction; 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus (Rom 3).
45
Faithful to the King “The expression ‘great tribulation’ includes all Christians who have experienced oppression and persecution everywhere throughout history.” (Kistemaker, 257).
46
Faithful to the King “The Scriptures teach that God’s people of all places and of all times have encountered, do encounter, and will encounter persecutions, dangers, and hardships until the end of the age” (Kistemaker, 257).
47
Faithful to the King The blood of Christ in my place is the only hope that does not disappoint.
48
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Faithful to the King Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
49
Faithful to the King 3. We must trust that God is worthy of worship and faithful to keep His promise (10–11; 15–17).
50
Faithful to the King No one is qualified for citizenship in His Kingdom, unless Christ is also a personal Savior.
51
Faithful to the King All redeemed humanity cries out – they shout or scream – continually with palm branches in their hand and declare “Salvation belongs to the Lord and to the Lamb” (10).
52
Faithful to the King “The beleaguered church needs this vision of their sovereign God at rest in tranquil sovereignty over the earth’s turmoil” (Johnson, 101).
53
The Lamb is our Shepherd King (15, 17).
Faithful to the King The Lamb is our Shepherd King (15, 17).
54
Faithful to the King “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.” (Matthew 5:6)

88
Before the Throne of God
89
Before the throne of God above I have a strong and perfect plea A great High Priest Whose name is love Who ever lives and pleads for me
90
My name is graven on His hands My name is written on His heart I know that while in heav’n He stands No tongue can bid me thence depart No tongue can bid me thence depart
91
When Satan tempts me to despair And tells me of the guilt within
Upward I look and see Him there Who made an end of all my sin
92
Because the sinless Savior died My sinful soul is counted free
For God the Just is satisfied To look on Him and pardon me
93
Behold Him there the risen Lamb My perfect spotless Righteousness
The great unchangeable I AM The King of glory and of grace
94
One with Himself I cannot die My soul is purchased by His blood
My life is hid with Christ on high With Christ my Savior and my God
95
I bow before the cross of Christ And marvel at this love divine
God's perfect Son was sacrificed To make me righteous in God's eyes
96
This river's depths I cannot know But I can glory in its flood
The Lord Most High Has bowed down low And poured on me His glorious love
97
There Is A Fountain
98
There is a fountain filled with blood Drawn from Immanuel’s veins
And sinners plunged beneath that flood Lose all their guilty stains
99
The dying thief rejoiced to see That fountain in his day
And there may I though vile as he Wash all my sins away
100
Dear dying Lamb Thy precious blood Shall never lose its power
‘Till all the ransomed church of God Be saved to sin no more
101
E’er since by faith I saw the stream Thy flowing wounds supply
Redeeming love has been my theme And shall be ‘til I die
