the DSD (Deutsches Sprachdiplom/German Language Certificate) is a joint undertaking of the German Federal Government and the federal states (Länder)
the Central Committee for the German Language Certicate sets the standards for the DSD
the DSD is aligned with school-leaving certificates in Germany
it correlates with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
quality assurance is guaranteed through scientific monitoring and evaluation of assessment methodology
DSD examinations are taken in more than 65 countries by approximately 70,000 students per year

A coherent German curriculum
The German curriculum in German language
A sufficient number of teachers
At least twelve participants per year
For the DSD I between 600 to 800 German lessons (45 minutes) are necessary
For the DSD II between 800 to 1200 German lessons (45 minutes) are needed
