Aberfan Survivors Mark 50th Anniversary
of Disaster As we spend a few minutes remembering the events of Aberfan let us also bring to God all those who are digging their lives from the rubble of life’s troubles from those who are being daily bombed to those suffocating in a mountain of debt. Lord we are sorry when we do not notice or when the sheer scale of problems seems so daunting to make us inactive. Lord forgive us and help us.
4
Hallelujah, my Father For giving us Your Son
Sending Him into the world To be given up for men Knowing we would bruise Him And smite Him from the earth Hallelujah, my Father - In His death is my birth Hallelujah, my Father -In His life is my life
5
May the God of all healing and forgiveness draw us to himself,
and cleanse us from all our sins that we may behold the glory of his Son, the Word made flesh, Jesus Christ our Lord AMEN
6
Affirmation of faith We believe that God is present In the darkness before dawn; In the waiting and uncertainty where fear and courage join hands, Conflict and caring link arms, and the sun rises over barbed wire. We believe in a with-us God who sits down in our midst To share our humanity. We affirm a faith that takes us beyond the safe place: Into action, into vulnerability and into the streets. We commit ourselves to work for change And put ourselves on the line; To bear responsibility, take risks, Live powerfully and face humiliation; To stand with those on the edge; To choose life and be used by the spirit for God’s new community of hope. Amen

Jesu, Jesu, fill us with your love, show us how to serve
Refrain: Jesu, Jesu, fill us with your love, show us how to serve the neighbours we have from you. Kneels at the feet of his friends, silently washes their feet, master who acts as a slave to them. Refrain Neighbours are rich and poor, varied in colour and race, neighbours are near and far away. Refrain These are the ones we should serve, these are the ones we should love; all these are neighbours to us and you. Refrain Loving puts us on our knees, serving as though we are slaves; this is the way we should live with you. Refrain Kneel at the feet of our friends, silently washing their feet;
