A) Students will learn to recognize value differences across cultures. B) Students will learn to respect and appreciate these differences, and consequently communicate better with people from various backgrounds.

1. Begin the session with the question "cross cultural romance." Ask students what do they know or think about this to arouse interest.

2. Move on to elicit the key concept of "culture shock." Encourage students to share their knowledge and experience of the topic.

3. Give students the handout of "Culture Shock" (Attachment 1). Give students 1 minute to read it on their own first.

5. Ask for volunteer to do a role-play to reenact the scene. This will boost both students' interest and speaking ability.

* As students may give stereotypical answers like "stinky tofu" or "chicken feet," be encouraging and urge students to think about other examples.
