Personal Hygiene & Protective Equipment- Hair Control (Food Safety)
Hairnets: A mob hat type of hairnet will be issued to all staff, visitors and contractors. A simple hair fastening is allowed to help retain long hair inside the hairnet. Ensure that your hairnet is worn correctly do not put knots in the back and ensure that all of your hair and ears are covered. When removing your factory equipment please ensure your hairnet is the last item to be removed, to prevent hairs falling onto you factory clothes. If you remove your hairnet do not reuse it but get a new one. Beard Snoods: A snood must be worn to cover moustaches and beards. It must be worn correctly at all times on the factory floor. Facial hair is considered long enough to wear a snood after 1 days growth. Remember that in order for your dust mask to fit properly you must be clean shaven. We received 6 Hair Foreign Body Complaints in 2014 and 10 in 2015, this is a 67% increase year on year. Although there have been fewer in 2016, the problem still remains. With your help by following the simple guidelines above we can totally eradicate this complaint type from the business.
