Ladybrook Foundation Stage

Welcome to Ladybrook! We are very pleased to welcome lots of new families to Ladybrook this year.

Reception School Uniform and optional Nursery Uniform
Grey trousers/skirt/pinafore dress White or purple polo shirt Purple sweatshirt or cardigan with school logo. Black school shoes. Purple fleece (optional) Black shorts, white T shirt and pumps for PE. Spare underwear, socks and joggers. (Nursery children need a full change of clothes in named bag.)

Induction Children start part-time and are phased into full-time as soon as possible. We do this to ensure children are happy, safe and secure. They will learn the routines and expectations in a smaller group. We will also complete baseline assessments during this period.

Lunch times… Reception children will go to the main school hall and Nursery children will stay in the Foundation Stage Building. Some Reception children do not like school dinners and may be better bringing a packed lunch initially. All Nursery children need to bring a packed lunch. Reception parents need to register on Parent Pay and select meals before September. All menus can be viewed via Parent Pay.

Snack times… We provide milk and water, fresh fruit and other healthy snacks in the mornings. Children do need a water bottle every day, filled at home with water not juice please. We provide fruit at snack time in the afternoon as well. We ask you to make a contribution of 50p per week for snacks as well as other resources. Children are entitled to free milk until they are 5.

Pupil Premium Please register and complete the forms if you think you are entitled to this. It will provide extra funding to support your child in the classroom. Please see a member of staff for extra information and help.

Settling In… Please encourage independence skills over the summer. In the mornings Reception children line up at the main door to the Foundation Stage building and come in independently. Staff are there to meet and greet them. Nursery children come in with parents and are taken to their classroom door. If your child is upset about separating from you, please wait until the end of the line and bring them to a member of staff who will make sure they are okay and bring them in.

Outdoors… We have lots of fun outdoors in all weathers. We provide waterproofs, please send in a pair of named wellies to keep at school.

Parents as Partners… We value your support and want to work closely with you to enable your child to develop and learn. We will keep in touch through: Home School Diaries Parent interviews Termly reports School social events and Foundation Stage coffee mornings. Learning Journeys and the Learning Wall. Any problems please talk to us at the start or end of the day or by phone

After School Club… We have before and after school care based in the Foundation Stage building.

Absences… Please ring us when your child is unable to come to school on or by contacting main school on If your child has a sickness bug please keep them off school for 48 hours. If your child is well enough to come to school but needs medication, please fill in a medicine form.

Asthma and Allergies… Please inform staff if your child suffers from any allergies, medical conditions or asthma.

Thank you… …We hope you and your child or children enjoy their time in our Foundation Stage. We pride ourselves at Ladybrook in having happy learners who are motivated by following their interests, whilst having lots of fun in a caring and nurturing environment.
