2
To facilitate the Statisticians in preparation of EFAMDA reports;
Objectives: To facilitate the Statisticians in preparation of EFAMDA reports; DevInfo (EFAInfo) data compilation organization of data data analysis especially in addressing issues on disparity and un-reached groups exchange and share experience
3
Day 1 DevInfo (Template creation) (Devinfo Admin Module)
Creation of New templates as required for the country Editing the existing template Create new Indicator or Edit Existing Indicator Input/Edit units or Indicators Input/Edit sexes Input/Edit Location with the country context Input/Edit Age group Input/Edit other groups Creation of new sub-groups with the inputted groups Creation of Indication-Unit-Subgroup (I-U-S) Input/Edit Area ID and Area Name (Area ID is previously assign by UNESCO/UNICEF) Creation/Import of area map
4
Day 2 DevInfo (Data entry and retrieval) Creation of New MDB
Should use a existing template and create the database Create New Goal Create new Indicators under the goal Create time unit in different formats Create new area (Area ID is specified by UNESCO/UNICEF) Create data source (Publisher, Title, year) Data Entry Open a existing database Select Goal Indicator Year Area Data Source Data Entry Screen will show Data can be export to xls file and also can imported

Orientation on the Excel Templates for EFAMDA
6
Day 3: How to export data from DevInfo and import data into DevInfo
(Data Import from and export to excel files) Summarizing DevInfo, Use of data from household survey data, and UPE/UBE Introduction the core UBE/UPE indicators Quality and gender-related indicators on UBE/UPE Additional UBE/UPE indicators and also some good examples of presentation of data (graphs and charts) from Global Monitoring Report. Orientation on the Excel Templates and Use of data from household survey and UBE/UPE

Day 4: Visual presentation and analysis and Literacy and Life Skills
Introduction to the core and additional Literacy and Life Skills indicators, quality and gender-related indicators on them and also some good examples of presentation of data (graphs and charts) from Global Monitoring Report. Examples of calculating Internal Efficiency Explanation of the difference between Survival Rate to Grade 5 and Retention Rate. Household Survey-based Literacy Module Visual presentation and analysis
8
Follow-up activities Prepare Workplan and time schedule
Country EFAInfo New updates (template) on EFAInfo (Support from Regional Team) – Beginning of Jan 2007 Draw a support from local partners (UNICEF, NSO, country Dev Info focal point, Dept of planning) Customization of excel templates Adapt and customize templates to fit with local contexts Fill the available data Data collection and compilation Set up a EFA data team to collect, compile and analyze input to the EFA MDA report Identify the sources of data relevant to EFA EMIS, censuses, surveys, studies Compile and collate the information to be included in the reports Prepare appropriate analysis
9
Issues Unavailability of data
Need to explore more on which data will be available especially data from surveys and studies Require in-depth analysis of data from surveys which required strong expertise in statistical package and data analysis Inadequate human resources to collect all information required Some cases, requires additional and new surveys and studies Requires more training and support for the preparation of EFAInfo Data analysis especially from surveys Modify the excel program to calculate IE to cover beyond Grade 5
