Purpose The primary purpose of the Allen ISD Cheerleading/Mascot Programs is to provide a positive game time experience for the athletes and the fans. We will cheer at the following events PLUS community service events, booster club events (Little Eagle Cheer Clinic), etc. Varsity – All Varsity Football Games, District Home Volleyball and playoff games District Home Basketball and playoff games UIL Competition other events as requested JV – All District Home JV Football Games and Varsity Playoff Games District Home Volleyball District Home Basketball NCA State Competition Freshman – All District Home Freshman Football Games

Eligibility A student is eligible to try out for cheerleader or mascot if the following conditions are met: To be eligible for tryouts, students must have passed all subjects the preceding grading period (T2) in order to participate in the tryout process. A student may tryout if eligibility regained prior to the tryout date. At the time of tryouts, the student is not serving a disciplinary placement (ISS, OSS, DAEP, JJAEP). At the time of the tryout, the student is enrolled in the Allen Independent School District and is trying out at the school where the student is registered to attend for the next school year.

Arriving on time, every time Prepared (with proper attire) Ready to work Grades are based on performances, both in class and practice. ALL of these are MANDATORY if you are planning on being a member of AHS Cheer!

Expectations cont. Must attend all spring practices.
More than 2 unexcused absences from spring practices will be unable to attend camp. Must be able to attend summer camp June 4-7 at SMU Practices in August and Touchdown Social Vacations?? Plan them during June 11th-August 1st. Practices begin August 2nd. READ THE GUIDELINES! Be prepared to abide by them.

Camp Wear/Practice Wear/Additional Items** $500.00 Meal/Water Fee $ ($75 for JV and Freshmen) Miscellaneous Fees $100.00 TOTAL $ *Returning members may exclude some of these costs if they currently own the necessary items. A deposit of $ will be due at the mandatory new squad team meeting on Thursday, March 16, 2017. Payments are not due in full. We will have them broken down and due monthly. All prices listed above are approximate costs. A detailed list of costs will be handed out at the new team meeting on Thursday, March 16th. Payment Schedule: March 16, 2017 – Deposit of $ due April 13, 2017 – First payment due April 27, 2017 – Second payment due May 18, 2017 – All fees must be paid by this date

Attend Spring Practices, Summer Camp, Enrolled in the Cheer Class Period Squad placement is determined by the judges 5 certified judges 24 members on JV (Eligible Juniors, Seniors, and Sophomores) and Freshman (Eligible Freshman) 5 certified judges for Varsity/JV, 3 for Freshman Mascot – Max of 4 (2 Varsity, 1 JV, 1 Freshman) Attend Spring Practices, Summer Camp, NOT Enrolled in the Cheer Class Period

Cheerleaders 200 point maximum score Individual – Running Tumbling/Spirited Entrance 3 Jumps Toe Touch, Front Hurdler (right or left side), Pike Standing tumbling (Back Handspring, Back tuck, Full) Cheer – Optional standing tumbling Group of 4 – Chant and Dance Mascots 200 point maximum score based on a 2 min skit Creativity Use of Props Character Definition/Exaggeration Crowd Appeal Dance Incorporation of Music Spirit and Enthusiasm

Day of tryouts Arrive at designated time (4:30pm Varsity and Freshman, 5:30pm JV and mascots) Tryouts begin at 5pm. Varsity candidates – white t-shirt (no visible logos), black shorts, white socks, athletic shoes, hair up and secure with a white bow. Check in at 4:30pm. JV Candidates - white t-shirt (no visible logos), navy shorts, white socks, athletic shoes, hair up and secure with a navy bow. Check in at 5:30pm. Freshmen Candidates - white t-shirt (no visible logos), Red shorts, white socks, athletic shoes, hair up and secure with a red bow. Check in at 4:30pm. No Finger Nail polish or Jewelry RESULTS POSTED ON THE WEBSITE Friday March 3, 4pm.
