Session:78 Date: Warm-UP: As we begin our study of the ancient civilizations in Latin America, make a prediction as to how they will differ from the civilizations we studied in Africa, Asia and Europe based on their geography. We are here now!

In our study of the ancient civilizations of Latin
America, SWBAT evaluate how each civilization was impacted by and adapted to its geography and
the achievements of each civilization by examining
visuals, gathering details from media and reading
selections to draw conclusions in a chart,
completing topic stop activities, categorizing
items and by triangulating various documents to
form and support a position. (NCSCOS 3.01, 8.03)

Terraces The Incas invented
terrace gardening. They
carved steps of flat land up

create flat land for farming.
The terraces also helped to
keep rainwater from
running off. They reduced
erosion. The government
built raised aqueducts to
carry water to farmlands for
irrigation.
