South Sudan Refugee Response
2
happening in South Sudan?
What is happening in South Sudan?
3
An outbreak of violence last July has spread throughout the country, sparing few areas.
4
This young nation is now faced with
life-threatening challenges, caused by conflict, that is displacing thousands daily.
5
Nearly one million South Sudanese families have fled to Uganda; many are children.
6
Uganda is welcoming these refugees
and even giving land for them to live on for shelter and to grow food.
7
In spite of this generosity, these families have come with little, and they arrive in areas where there is essentially nothing.
8
World Renew is responding in a refugee camp called Bidibidi
World Renew is responding in a refugee camp called Bidibidi. Last July, this camp did not exist and today it is home to 300,000 people.
9
It is one of the largest refugee camps
in the world, stretching 22 kilometers.
10
One of the greatest needs is proper sanitation facilities.
11
Combining funds with our Integral partner, “Tear Australia”, World Renew is supporting the construction of latrines.
12
770 communal latrines, serving 38,500 people, have been constructed
770 communal latrines, serving 38,500 people, have been constructed. These latrines are vital in preventing the spread of diseases.
13
Here, UNHCR tarps cover one of the
communal latrines recently constructed by World Renew and “Here is Life”.
14
The conflict shows few signs of
slowing down, which means families will likely remain in Bidibidi for years to come.
15
There is now a need to build more permanent household latrines.
16
Your donation will enable World Renew to build these household latrines, providing much needed support to the South Sudanese families who have fled conflict.
17
Please give generously!
18
We also request your prayers for God to bring peace and reconciliation
for the South Sudanese people.
