Disability Inclusion Plan launched in February Implementation commenced Disability Inclusion Action Planning guidelines released in June 2015 for Agencies and September 2015 for Local Government Agencies developed DIAP Guidelines by December 2015 LG NSW working with FACS to develop additional resources and supports for councils to meet their June 2017 obligations An overview of the areas I will outline today

FACS hosting whole of government – whole of community forum targeting select issues in employment for people with disability Q4 2016 Contact: Disability Access and Inclusion - P&I NSW Government Agency DIAPs Employment is a focus area Each NSW Government agency has a DIAP with a focus on action to support inclusion. Guidelines The actions will be reviewed to identify systemic approaches to support employment Contact: Disability Access and Inclusion - P&I Disability Employment Advisory Committee - DEAC Ongoing high level working group examining disability in the public sector context. Ongoing PSC - ADHC CEO, FACS Sec Local Government Disability Inclusion Planning Working with LGNSW and local councils to support DIAP planning Employment is a focus in councils Contact: Disability Access and Inclusion – P&I Accessible Tourism Formative work commenced Will link key community stakeholders, business and local government Drive the business case for inclusion tourism, and employment Contact: Disability Access and Inclusion - P&I Care Careers National Disability Services and FACS Contact: P&I / NDS FACS involved NDIS ILS and individual planning support DPC lead DATA & Evaluation PSC - Public Service Survey FACS – service provision and diversity data Human Resources – Adjustments Monitoring Framework for the NSW DIP NSW Accessible ICT policy Cross agency collaborative development of Accessible ICT policy – lead by Finance and FACS. 9 DIAP Guidelines The Guidelines were developed through a series of workshops and consultation with agencies, people with disability and other stakeholders Critical to successful implementation are: buy-in from agency executive building ongoing engagement mechanisms with people with disability across the range of employees, customers, clients, students, inmates, passengers etc. Practical achievable actions A workshop series was undertaken with agencies to support planning – these focus on engagement, employment, whole of government actions, monitoring and reporting.

10 INFORMING DIAPS CONSULTATION ENGAGEMENT Now December 2015 2019
WHY: To inform initial actions for the DIAP and develop engagement approach WHY: To maintain engagement, provide feedback and monitoring implementation WHO: People with disability, peaks, customers, clients, service users, public, employees, DENs, service providers, contractors, community groups HOW: Contacting, informing and listening through forums, focus groups, meetings, workshops, submissions, surveys, “Have Your Say”, , letters, suggestions boxes. Using accessible formats and media HOW: As for consultation but establishing longer term structures and ongoing communication channels: committees, advisory groups, working parties, DENs, accessible feedback mechanisms, complaints mechanisms, satisfaction surveys Now December 2015 2019 timeline

11 DIAPs & Local Government
Local government has a critical role to play in inclusive planning Local Government have until July 2017 to develop their Disability Inclusion Plan to align with their broader community planning framework requirements. The Local government guidelines support the local government planning process LG NSW and FACS are identifying ways to support councils to develop these plans. Resource sharing, local collaboration, coordinating consultations etc. Link with the larger picture – tourism, community develoment
