Figure 1. Trial one and trial two subject assignments
Figure 1. Trial one and trial two subject assignments. Trial One: Intratracheal drug delivery with the atomizer for histology and amphotericin B tissue concentration analysis. Trial Two: Manipulation of atomizer orientation during intratracheal delivery for determination of left and right lung tissue concentrations of amphotericin B. Treatment group 1: Atomizer centralization within the lumen of an endotracheal tube during drug delivery; Treatment group 2: Lateral fanning of the atomizer from side to side during drug delivery; Treatment group 3: Atomizer displacement to the left and right side of the tracheal lumen with a 10 French red rubber tube during drug delivery. From: Amphotericin B concentrations in healthy mallard ducks (Anas platyrhynchos) following a single intratracheal dose of liposomal amphotericin B using an atomizer Med Mycol. Figure 2. (A) Semi-logarithmic plot of amphotericin B concentrations versus time from left lung tissue samples from mallard ducks after a single intratracheal exposure to amphotericin B (3 mg/kg), showing a regression line with a slope that is not significantly different from zero. (B) Semi-logarithmic plot of amphotericin B concentrations versus time from right lung tissue samples from mallard ducks after a single intra tracheal exposure to amphotericin B (3 mg/kg), showing a regression line with a significant negative slope. (C) Semi-logarithmic plot of amphotericin B concentrations from kidney tissue samples from mallard ducks after a single intra tracheal exposure to amphotericin B (3 mg/kg), showing a regression line with a significant negative slope.
