When the present participle and the past participle are used to form verbs in sentences THEY ALWAYS TAKE AUXILIARY (HELPING) VERBS.

4 These principal parts are used to make all of the verb tenses.

REGULAR VERBS - form their past and past participle by adding -ed or -d to the present. Present Present Participle Past Participle look (is) look+ing Look + ed (has) look + ed

IRREGULAR VERBS - form their past and past participle in some other way than adding -ed or -d. Check out page 131 of your grammar book and the handout!
