7. Background
Existing airport was originally constructed during second world war for military training purposes
Ownership of the airport was taken over by the City of Abbotsford in 1997
Abbotsford International Airport Master Plan identified a need for upgrades
Total estimated cost $30 million; project funding from the Infrastructure Stimulus Fund
