4 IMAT IMT IMAT-travels with Deputy IC, no IC
May not staff the Ops Section Provide leadership and support to local resources May not be delegated authority over incident Assists with ICS, planning, coordination, formulates and implements the IAP IMT-travels with IC More fully staffed team Is provided some type of authority over the incident, including financial responsibility Is responsible for all facets of ICS (as needed) including Operations.

7 #3-Plan to Teach Others! Local resources (or even other agencies!) may not be familiar with: ICS terminology Planning or Operational cycles Meeting schedules Check-in/Demobe process ICS positions and duties FEMA courses vary from traditional ICS courses Many resources will lack experience

8 #4 Be Knowledgeable Be an expert in what you do
Qualify for other positions when possible Short team-other skills are crucial sometimes Understand the “FEMA” system Partner up with FEMA by instructing their classes or become a student Understand FEMA billing process/ MEMA relationship to towns/etc Pre-plan & pre-position for the incident if possible Gain exposure and experience in the All-Hazard arena
