3. St. Andrew's Journey
St. Andrew's has had community outreach to homeless as part of their core mission for over 100 years
St. Andrew's demonstrated their expression of care and concern for the unsheltered, by becoming a founding-host congregation with the Women's Homeless Initiative (Safe Haven) in 2012
Each Friday night for over two and a half years, 20 women were sheltered in the basement of the church through the Safe Haven Project
St. Andrew's expanded its expression of care and concern for the unsheltered through the community of volunteers who began serving at The Irving Street Residences for Women and Brandon Center

4. Opportunity
St. Andrew's has the rare opportunity to partner with The Delores Project, Radian, Inc., and Colorado Construction Institute to create a project for a small scale, temporary Tiny House Village located on a section of the north parking lot
The Tiny House Village would provide temporary housing for eight individuals in transition from homelessness to low-income housing and would include eight tiny houses and accompanying structures
The concept for this opportunity is based on successful initiatives in Seattle and other cities
Discernment about this project has included research, site visits from St Andrew's to a Tiny Village in Seattle adjacent to a church, meetings with our team partners, meetings with city officials and meetings with our neighbors
We are now ready to present this opportunity to you for discussion and questions

5. Why are we doing this?
The Tiny House Village is a continuation of St. Andrew's expression of mission and vision of sanctuary in the city and for renewal of the world
This Tiny House Village is intended to be a temporary , safe, stable solution for capable adults who need a temporary shelter as they find permanent housing
We own the parking lots, and as such, can offer space as part of our contribution
How can 8 tiny homes have an impact on this massive homeless problem?  We feel as a city we have to begin somewhere, and this project can serve as a model. We will be working with churches across the city to follow our model, thereby distributing homeless out of the downtown core.

6. Seattle's Tiny Village
The Seattle Village has a tented kitchen. Our proposed kitchen will have walls and a roof.

7. Seattle's Tiny Village
Each unit is insulated and heated in winter and has a fan and windows for the warm summer months. Inside each home is room for a bed, desk and chair and storage. These units have enough electricity, to power a cell phone and/or lap top.

9. St. Andrew's Project Overview
The Village will consist of 8 tiny, insulated homes which will be 8 x 12 feet each; a community gathering/kitchen space; and a lavatory area which includes private showers and two toilets
Villagers pay an affordable fee for utilities
There units will have 12 volts of electricity, enough to power a cell phone and/or lap top
Villagers will receive mail and have an address (required for employment)
The site will have an 6' perimeter fence and secure entrance/exit, staffed 24/7
The budget includes additional staff from The Dolores Project to support the village. They will also oversee screening and selecting the residents
CCI will provide the labor to build the houses and donors will provide the material
St. Andrew's will provide the temporary use of space for the Village

The proposal calls for the homes to be on the asphalt and the perimeter would extend into the church rose garden and take up some staff parking.

11. Covenants and Safety
The residents have to sign an agreement setting forth the rules of the village
The residents establish their own covenants and enforce the rules to which they have all agreed
The residents are assigned duties such as cleaning common areas, serving in the gatehouse, and similar duties
The Delores Project will provide support and oversight to the residents

13. The Delores Project Role
The Delores Project will be responsible for identifying tenants, processing tenant applications, moving those tenants into their tiny homes, and supporting those tenants with programming so that they maintain their Tiny Home placement while engaged in identifying permanent housing options.
The Delores Project will be responsible for supporting tenants as they establish a Resident Advisory Committee and set up systems to govern the village.
In addition, The Delores Project will work with the residents and partner non- profits to ensure each resident is receiving case management services.

14. The Roles of Radian and CCI
Radian is responsible for the design of the Tiny Village, working with CCI and St. Andrew's
CCI will supply the labor to build the tiny houses, working with Radian and St. Andrew's

15. St. Andrew's Role Our role is to provide:
Space for the Village north of the church
Draw off of our electricity and plumbing (paid for by the residents through an affordable fee).
Partner with Radian, The Delores Project and CCI to secure  funds necessary to construct and operate St. Andrew's Tiny Home Village
Parish support for project
