STATUTORY REQUIREMENTS FOR FMH PROGRAMES OF STUDY
Pre registration healthcare student Education provider requirements for programme approval Regulatory bodies standards for professional registration Professional body requirements for membership All FMH students are required to undertake clinical placements to fulfil the standards for their individual professional registration. For example BSc or MSc Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy students have to complete and pass 1000 clinical placement hours during the programme of study. A standard term is 40 week for MED and weeks for HSC courses. 18/05/17 UEA Learning and Teaching Day

HIGHER EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Higher Education Institutions “Need a defined and co-ordinated approach to employability that is understood and supported by all staff and made explicit to all students” – Doug Cole (2016). A more holistic approach to employability is required within Higher Education as reinforced by the Teaching Excellence Framework – a student’s knowledge skills and career readiness should be a focus throughout their studies as well and the measure of graduate prospect scores (Elkington, 2016). 18/05/17 UEA Learning and Teaching Day

EMPLOYABILITY AND FMH Employability permeates through all aspects of the faculty and as such is part of a student’s journey from admission through to employment. The process of embedding employability within FMH has facilitated a close working relationship between the Associate Deans within FMH This presentation will explore the integrated working between the ADs in relation to employability. 18/05/17 UEA Learning and Teaching Day

EMPLOYABILITY DOMAINS The employability themes from the focus group research discussion were renamed as “employability domains”. 18/05/17 UEA Learning and Teaching Day

LEARNING TEACHING AND QUALITY
Externality and the employment agenda is a ‘given’ and central to informing the provision design, delivery and quality judgements made of our taught provision So what does this mean for us… Academic autonomy is rarely an option- we have to collaborate… Our learning and teaching activity must be professionally accredited, authentic and driven by a ‘fitness for purpose and practice’ agenda We must be flexible, inclusive and interdisciplinary whilst acting as gatekeepers of the professions- UG and PGT are different worlds… We need to fulfil our commissioners contractual expectations, be competitive at tender – but are mindful of league tables… We are quality assured regularly and extensively by multiple stakeholders- who have different views of what is required… 18/05/17 UEA Learning and Teaching Day

POST GRADUATE RESEARCH
At induction Career Central provide case studies of people who have studied for PhD and what paths their careers have taken. There are many transferable skills associated with PhD not just research and not just academia. PGR students are encouraged to consider career pathways and options as part of the initial training needs analysis which can be reviewed at each Annual Progress meeting 18/05/17 UEA Learning and Teaching Day
25
POST GRADUATE RESEARCH
The new training needs analysis process for students and personal development plan will have a focus on the future and how the research developer framework domains relate to a future career. This is aimed at helping students engage with their training pathway to develop their personal skills set. This encourages students to lift their heads up to look forward and not just look down at their research projects. 18/05/17 UEA Learning and Teaching Day
