Crafted from Grenache from the sandy soils of the Swann vineyard in Blewitt Springs and the organic Warboys vineyard, Shiraz from the exposed slopes of the Cheasley vineyard high on the Sellicks Hills overlooking Gulf St Vincent and the sandstone knoll of the organic Paxton “Jones” block, and Mourvèdre from the more sheltered Balanave’s vineyard also in Sellicks Hills
The perfume of Blewitt Springs balances the pepper and spice of the more southerly Sellicks vineyards, and the richness of the organic blocks in the “Seaview” region
Handpicked and handsorted, each parcel was individually fermented and matured in 2nd and 3rd use French oak barrels for 9 months before the final blending and bottling

This premium collection of wines draws upon the heritage of the Angove Family Crest. The shield on the label depicts the family interests of mining and winemaking, with the Latin motto of Deo Volente Vincam, meaning God willing, I shall conquer. The granting of the family Coat of Arms was made on May 20, 1953 by Queen Elizabeth.

The organic and biodynamic Warboys Vineyard lies in a small valley where the old Shiraz vines of the south facing slope complement the Grenache on the north facing slope

Both varieties were basket-pressed with the pressed wine and free-run juice transferred to 1 year old French oak barrels

Planted in the 1940’s, the Warboys Vineyard is believed to be one of the oldest in McLaren Vale, with low yielding vines
Handpicked whole bunches were hand sorted then hand-plunged with gentle foot trod over 7 days before going into basket press
Final wine was bottled without filtration or fining

Planted in 1964, the Grenache vines in the Warboys Vineyard have their roots reaching deeply into the limestone for sustenance
Over the decades the rudimentary trellis has deteriorated and the vines have formed themselves into gnarled limbs more common in bush vines, ensuring evenly spread fruit and lower yields

Aromas of dark black fruit, bitter chocolate and licorice with rich flavors of black cherry. A full-bodied wine with a long and well-structured finish showing a balance of oak and acidity, resulting in great aging potential.
