#Hashtags A Hashtag is a word or words put together with a “#” right before it. The purpose of a hashtag is to allow people to view posts about a specific topic. If you type a specific hashtag in a search box (primarily on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram), all the posts about that topic will come up **As long as they all have the SAME HASHTAG ** This is useful when posting about a cause or event Examples of Hashtags - #DisabilityAdvocacy #TheArcPA
9
Tagging When you mention a person or organization in your post
Creates a link on your post to that person or organization’s page Your post will show up on their page They’ll be aware that you mentioned them, and more people will see your post
10
Tagging - Facebook On Facebook, use the “ before typing the name of the person or organization you want to tag This will bring up a list of possible options When you find the name you want, click on it The name will turn blue which means it’s tagged
13
Tagging - Twitter Twitter works in a similar way, but you have to be more specific and make sure you get the names exactly right, or they won’t come up. IMPORTANT! On Twitter, if tagging at the beginning of a post, you must put a “.” before the Twitter Handle. If you don’t, then your post will only be visible to that one person or organization.
