The facts 1 in 5 have a long standing limiting disability or illness
That equates to about 18.4 million people. Nearly 6 million people with a mobility impairment 70% of people with a physical disability are over the age of 50 amputees in this country. 135 amputations a week due to complications around obesity 5000 to 6000 amputations per year 0.2% of amputees are military related. There is a higher prevalence of below knee amputees than above. Facts supplied by census. Sport England Disability mapping and NHS data

Definition of who we represent
People who have had upper limb or lower limb amputations. Congenital or acquired. People who have any physical impairment Spina Bifida Polio CP Wheelchair user You do not need a running blade to run, though above knee needs a specialist limb We also work with the other physical impairment NDSOs The fitness industry/sector.

LimbPower Why we were formed and who we are
Established in 2009 to represent amputees Its original aim was to provide opportunities for amputees to participate in sport and the arts. It runs both Junior Games and Adult Games at Stoke Mandeville Secured Sport England funding in October 2014 to establish its self as an NDSO. Currently has two members of staff, a part time CEO and Development officer. Head Office is in Lingfield, Surrey.

What we offer Advice and guidance on how and where to access sport and physical activity. Development of resources including case studies. Group talks and multisport sessions for school. Introduction into sport and physical activity four hour course. Advanced rehab three hour course. Three regional one day multi-sports events- Sheffield, Birmingham, London Bi-annual National Amputee Games. The fitness industry/sector.
