Reflect on your positions on the following recommendations: School counselors should not refer student clients for reasons related to their personal values. School counselors should not follow students on Facebook and other social media outlets. School counselors should use and document ethical decision-making models. The best ethical decision-making models contain multicultural overlays.

APPLICATION TO TECHNOLOGY
Create an inventory of forms of social media that school-aged students currently use that might challenge school counselors from legal and ethical perspectives, and develop a list of ways that the challenges might be manifested. Develop a plan for using technology to keep student records in a manner that meets FERPA guidelines and those in the ACA and ASCA codes of ethics.
