5 Methods Identify opportunities that would engage trainees:
‘Foundation Prize’ Scoring Foundation curriculum Areas of professional development Quality of e-Portfolio; Quality of Reflections; TAB Feedback; Educational/Clinical Supervisor report; Contribution to Teaching/Education Highest scorers (10/10) invited to present

6 Methods Oral presentation (10 minutes)
‘How I would improve the local Foundation Programme’ Questions from panel / audience. Scored by panel: Director of Foundation Training Deputy Director of Medical Education Foundation Programme Directors Foundation Programme Administrator

7 Results 12 doctors from FY1 and FY2 presented their ideas at the presentation event. Top 3 from each year group selected to receive awards.

8 FY1s to carry crash bleep.
FY1/2 advanced clinical skills training. Consultant supervised teaching programme Increased use of simulated training

9 Outcomes Advantages of this approach: Potential risks:
Encourages trainees to do well. Provides feedback to programme in a ‘controlled’ manner. Problem solving not just raising issues. Engagement of all trainees Trainees failing to engage. Issues raised in front of Senior Educator from HEEM – potential of home goal. Loss of control over trainees at presentation. Despite this process, no changes to the local programme happen.
