Expression levels of Inflammatory cytokines and p53-fibrinolytic system in smokers with or without COPD Mahesh MG1, Deepu C2, Irfan KM2, Ashwini S3, Bhandary YP1* Yenepoya Research Centre, Yenepoya University, Deralakatte, Mangalore Presenting author: Results Your text would go here. INTRODUCTION RESULTS Samples Control Smokers with COPD Smokers without COPD Blood 3 9 8 Serum Sputum Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a disease characterized by inflammation in airway and obstruction of lung function. COPD patient are more often found with alveolar inflammation due to accumulation of inflammatory cells, elevated pulmonary IL-17A. Defective fibrinolysis and alveolar fibrin deposition due to a disproportionate increase in plasminogen activator inhibitor (PAI)-1 and epithelial cell apoptosis. Figure 1: IL-17A expression levels in normal and COPD patient. Blood samples were collected from normal and COPD patients. The serum samples were subjected to western blotting analysis for IL-17A using IL-17 A antibody. Samples were normalized with β-actin antibody. Blood samples were collected from normal and COPD patients. The serum samples were subjected to western blotting analysis for p53, and PAI-1 expression levels using their respective antibody. Samples were normalized with β -actin antibody. Table-3: Categorization of COPD samples based on FEV1/FVC ratio. Blood samples were collected from normal and COPD patients. The serum samples were subjected to western blotting analysis for cl.caspase-3 and t.caspase-3 levels using their respective antibody. Samples were normalized with β-actin antibody Table-2: Biochemical analysis of COPD samples. DISCUSSION No major changes in the biochemical analysis seen among smokers with or without COPD Increased expression of IL-17A and p53-fibrinolytic system was observed in smokers with COPD The elevated expression of IL-17A plays a major role in p53 expression and its regulation CONCLUSION A novel approach to prove the IL-17A mediated p53-fibrinolytic system during COPD. It may be useful to find out a novel pathway for the better understanding of molecular mechanism involved in COPD.
