Disability is an umbrella term covering a broad spectrum of impairments conditions and can be self-defined Summarised into the following categories: Sensory Physical Cognitive Mental health Long term health conditions 12+ months Disability is… a condition that has a substantial and long-term effect on carrying out day-to-day activities

Why is disability hate crime under-reported?

Lee Irving, aged 24 Befriend by a group of 6 in order to gain his trust Fleeced his bank account Beaten over prolonged period Sedated with drugs, including morphine to prevent him escaping Lee, beaten to death, received 24 rib fractures Lee’s mother said that he always wanted to have friends and people he could look up to

Brendan Mason, aged 23 Two men, who Brendan believed to be his friends, lured him to a park. They hung him from a tree and filmed themselves beating him. Stripped him naked and threw body into a pond. Brendan died from 99 separate injuries. Brendan Mason's family said he was a "lovely young man" and "so happy“
