In back-room areas they use compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) or high-performance T8 lamps and electronic ballasts, a combination that can reduce lighting energy consumption by 35 percent. Adding specular reflectors, new lenses, and occupancy sensors or timers to a T8 fluorescent lighting system can double the savings.
