SUSTAINABILITY PLAN The sustainability of the gains of this project was premised on the facts that: Long and medium term: consistent supply of manpower in the sectors of education, health and agriculture A plan on creating a niche for a sustainable supply of manpower was laid down against the backdrop of possible brain-drain; thus, UTG, GTTI and GC were identified for academic staff capacity building; and, Short term/Immediate needs: specialists such data analysts, ICT technicians, health and agriculture professionals requirements to drive the processes of growth Adopted bonding mechanism – titled deeds and/or sureties with conditions that a trained staff will serve the parent institution for, at least, twice the period spent on the training

GAINS & CHALLENGES Gains:
The Gambia Technical Training Institute will be able to offer programmes at Advanced Diploma and Bachelors levels. A component of the future School of Engineering The masters programmes in nursing and public health at University of The Gambia will be strengthened, as well as ICT and Mathematics at masters level The planning capacity of ministries, departments and agencies will be strengthened. Also, the capacity to kick off the e-government initiative is created The water engineers and other agricultural experts will drive significantly the food self-sufficiency initiative

GAINS & CHALLENGES Challenges:
Inadequate stipends and the lack of laptops for the MSc students The inability to provide adequate training for University of The Gambia and Gambia College, especially in the areas of medicine, physics, chemistry and biology Absence of students’ progress report Inappropriate procurement process in hiring services from the Centres of Excellence

THE WAY FORWARD / RECOMMENDATIONS
Addition Financing to send more students! Possibly expand students to Eastern Africa-ACE 2 Regular monitoring and supervision of Gambian at ACEs-MOHEST Possibly simplify procurement process for selecting ACEs for Gambian students
