21st century education through College and career ready focus

2 21st century Learning "21st-century skills" is generally used to refer to certain core competencies such as collaboration, digital literacy, critical thinking, and problem-solving that advocates believe schools need to teach to help students thrive in today's world.

3 Career readiness The level of achievement a student needs to be ready to enroll and succeed—without remediation—in credit‐ bearing first‐year postsecondary courses. (two‐year or four‐year institutions, trade schools, and technical schools.) Possesses key content knowledge and key learning skills and techniques sufficient to begin studies in a career pathway. however, workplace readiness demands the same level of knowledge and skills as college readiness. *Work ready = Meets basic expectations regarding workplace behavior and demeanor *Job ready = Possesses specific training necessary to begin an entry‐level position
