He said that we only learn from experience through reflection…in other words thinking about what has happened. (1938)

4 Schön’s reflection in action and on action
In action is the teacher ‘thinking on his or her feet’, being spontaneous, creative and unique. On action means; reflecting in the quiet after the event. There will be ongoing purposeful reflection in and on action. (Schön, 1983)

7 Mezirow Perspective change leading to transformative learning sometimes occurs. Mezirow believes that it usually results from a ’disorienting dilemma’, which is triggered by a life crisis or major life transition, although it may also result from an accumulation of transformations in meaning schemes over a period of time. (Mezirow, 1991)
