4 The 13th Amendment Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

5 13th 14th 15th All men are free. Involuntary labor can be used as punishment for a crime. FREE

6 The 14th Amendment All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No state shall make or enforce any law which shall bridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

We will move to groups after “To College – Through College” You will work with your groups to read the article Jot down on the chart paper: What group is being denied their 14th amendment right to equality? What complaint could they file, and to whom?

18 Solutions Gallery Walk
You will walk around to each station with your group. You have two minutes at each station to read the chart paper and respond by generating a solution to the problem (should there be a new law? What should it be?)
