Purposes Magna Grecia and Robin Fund, during the International People Summit, will promote the project: "From Sicily to a new Mediterranean ... ancient bridge with the Americas". We know that RCNY is active in international co-operation to support the structures that work to help refugees and migrants. This issue of uncontrolled immigration and refugees is a major problem for humanity in general and for the Mediterranean in particular. These uncontrolled flows create social, health and safety problems, and therefore an eco-sustainable development model is needed to avoid, or at least diminish, these flows by creating workplace in the origin countries. Purposes In this context, the theme should be addressed not with a speculative perspective, but with regard to the existential and personalistic implications, to which the relationship with the immigrant must be inspired, and for this reason there was signed a MOU between RCNY and Rotary Palermo. It will be dedicated an entire day during the International People Summit in May, where will attend, in various ways, foundations, associations, international standing engaged on this issue. With the help of the RCNY, we want to be guardians and guarantors of the return to the life of the Mediterranean that today, unfortunately, is increasingly linked to death. Purposes There will be an extraordinary event that begins in Marsala on September 2 and ends in Palermo on September 11th, that marks an ideal twinning with New York and with Ground Zero .. or ... G 0 that will also be read in G as a generation and 0 as the starting point for a new generation who has to believe in peace, not only talk about it but should work to get it. How to achieve the target
Sicily has always been, over the centuries, a land of conquest and therefore of immigration and then of emigration. Strong is the feeling that so many millions of emigrants have with this land and, even though for generations, now definitely Americans, the bond remains strong. Malta and Sicily are also united in the sign of Rotary, in a single District, the 2110, which becomes the further reason of the why of this presentation. The RCNY should be, like the Mediterranean, an element of aggregation with the various social forces that, not only in words, are active in trying to solve this problem that is daily present in the Mediterranean area and on the coasts of southern Italy. We also hope that our intervention can be collected by RCNY to be submitted as a development program to the United Nations, as a possible alternative solution in relation to current support measures for international cooperation.
