Ratio Ratio tells us the amounts of parts of a whole!
For example to make a drink of Vimto we use 1 part Vimto cordial and 4 parts water! So for every 100 ml of Vimto cordial we need to add 400 ml of water! We say that the ratio of cordial to water is 1 to 4! Which we write as 1 : 4

Equivalent Ratios As with fractions some ratios are the same as others ~ these are what we call equivalent ratios! Orange : Yellow 2 : 1 For every 2 orange cars there is 1 yellow car! Orange : Yellow 4 : 2 For every 4 orange cars there are 2 yellow cars!
