2. Why the TSI Pre-Assessment Activity?
Before you can take the TSI assessment, you must participate in a Pre-Assessment
You will be asked, “Were you provided with information and/or an activity to help you understand all of the following: 1 the importance of this assessment, 2 sample questions, 3 course options, and 4 resources for students?”
You must document your completion of the Pre-Assessment Activity
You must be able to answer “YES” to take the TSI test

The score range on the TSI Assessment in all sections is
TSI Math- College Readiness
TSI Reading – 351
TSI Writing – 5 on the essay or 363 with a 4 on the essay

5. Are There exemptions?
ACT – composite score of a 23 with a 19 in English and 19 in Math
SAT – Prior to March composite score of 1070 with 500 in Critical Reading and 500 in Math
SAT- After March exemptions with 480 EBRW and/or 530 Math
Can have partial exemptions

6. What is on the test?
TSI Math is 20 questions that covers the four content areas.
TSI Reading is 24 questions with items in each section of the diagnostic test.
TSI Writing is 20 questions with items in each section of the diagnostic test.
You may also be asked to write a fie paragraph persuasive essay.

When is TSI Testing?
The test is given at LHS multiple times throughout the school year.
How do I register?
Registration forms can be found in the Go Center and the Counseling Center
Complete registration form and return to the Counseling Center along with your payment (cash or money order)
Space is limited and seats will be filled in order of registration submission
Make sure to meet registration deadline

11. Lufkin High school testing center
What if I have a disability?
If you receive accommodations on testing through 504 or special services, you will be provided accommodations
You are responsible for registering your accommodations on your registration form
See your counselor for more information

12. What happens when I finish?
You will receive a TSI placement score
If you met the passing standard, you will be able to register for college credit classes or dual credit
If you did NOT meet the passing standard, your institution may use additional factors to determine placement.

Contact an advisor at your institution of choice to learn about campus and community resources that will help you succeed as a college student.

14. Can I re-take the tsi?
You can re-take the TSI when you are ready and will be required to pay each time you test
You will only re-test in the area needed

15. What is my tsi Pre-assessment verification form?
Your verification form is your acknowledgment of the following statement:
“Were you provided with information and/or an activity to help you understand all of the following: 1. the importance of this assessment, 2. sample questions, 3. course options, and 4 resources for students?”
You must document your completion of the Pre-Assessment Activity
You must be able to answer “YES” to the above statement in order to take the TSI test
