Peaceful demonstration, sang hymns, and carried pictures of Czar and carried religious icons.

4. Petition An 8-hour workday and freedom to organize trade unions.
Improved working conditions, increase in wages.
Elections to be held for a constituent assembly by universal, equal and secret suffrage.
Free universal education.
Freedom of speech, press, association and religion.
An end to the war with Japan.

United Russian people in a solid front against the Tsar and the government.

The government used severe repression and executions to end revolution.

7. October Manifesto Decree from Czar Nicholas II
Promised individual liberties
Created the Duma- parliament. The Duma was very conservative and did little to stop autocratic government.

8. Failure of the Revolution
Most of the army remained loyal and would not overthrow Czar.
Russian was lent money from France, a military ally.
The revolutionary groups were divided in their goals.
