2 About SOF The shift to the cloud requires rethinking how enterprises and partners Plan, Deliver and Operate Skype for Business. The Skype Operations Framework (SOF) provides a multi-faceted approach to the successful deployment of Skype for Business, providing Practical guidance, recommended practices, tools and assets to enable enterprises to plan, deliver and operate a reliable and cost effective Skype for Business Service in the cloud.   A common understanding of the Skype for Business online lifecycle for customers and partners to effectively engage and drive Skype usage and customer success.  Training for customers and partners via Skype Academy Feedback mechanisms to capture and incorporate updates from the field To find out more please visit

3 Video disclaimer CQD and SOF are living frameworks
We innovate on a constant basis New content will be added, existing content will be updated By the time you watch this video, some details might be different For major changes, new videos will be created For most recent videos go here This is the January 2017 version of this video

4 Understanding Network Performance with CQD

5 About this Series CQD Online Introduction CQD Basic Concepts Managing CQD Reports Managing a high quality deployment with CQD Audio Quality investigations with CQD Monitoring Endpoints with CQD Why did we create this video series (Lester/Brandon/Martin) We are here !

6 About this Video What will we cover in the video ?
Building and Subnet Investigation Methodology Calls vs Streams TCP vs UDP Wired vs Wireless VPN and Split Tunneling Inside vs Outside

7 Building and Subnet Methodology
Starting at an all up number and then determinging an area to investigate Wifi, Transport, Egress, VPN, etc Wired Compare to other wired subnets. Wifi Comparing WiFi to other WiFi subnets in the same building (e.g. is it bad just for this subnet or is it affecting other subnets too? ) This helps refine the investigation to if it is the subnet or the egress having the issue. Second Reflexive - how do I use this This only useful for UDP. Indicates egress or public facing IP space.

8 Demo 1

9 Areas of investigation
Audio Poor Calls Streams vs. Audio Poor Streams Calls = overall experience Stream = occurred on this subnet TCP/UDP Use the template report to look at Audio Stream Total for TCP Identify subnets where TCP is in use. Draw distinction between if it is a subnet or if it is the egress point Wired/Wireless Wired Lightweight story of common things to look at Wireless Band Channel (no overlapping) Drivers (last thing to look at)

10 Demo 2

11 VPN and External users VPN Inside/Outside Client based vs. site-based
VPN flag Information on Split-Tunneling: b00d c3-ec7eab5a8a43?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US Inside/Outside Once building data has been uploaded you can use some of the other filters to exclude External users, for example.

12 Demo 3

13 Summary What did we cover in this session ? Methodology Streams vs Calls TCP vs UDP Wired vs Wireless VPN External users What’s next ? Monitoring Endpoints with CQD

14 Contribute to SOF What works (and what doesn’t)?
Anything incorrect, missing or other feedback ? Let us know! Discuss SOF with your peers and the SOF team Learn more about how others are applying SOF to their projects Discuss!
