What is CIRC? CIRC stands for “Creativity, Innovation, and Research Center”. This will be a rotation of library and technology time with various activities that coordinate with classroom learning. Students will see three teachers: Mrs. Kelly, Miss Micco, and Mrs. Womer. Our “Book Check Out” time is now different. We will not check out during specials anymore. We have a separate time. Ours is on Day 2 at 9:45.

Homework I am testing out a new homework system this year! PLEASE feel free to give me any type of feedback that you have about it. Whether positive or negative, it will help me make the best choices for our students. Each student should have a binder, this will be for homework. The student will receive a monthly “Spelling Menu” at the beginning of each month. Spelling words will come home every Monday on the Homework Log (posted online as well). They will choose activities from the menu, or self-created, to practice their words.
7
Homework Students should also read at least 15 minutes per night. It can be independent or with someone. On the log- write the spelling activity and the title of the book that was read. Parents, you only need to sign the log at the end of the week- this tells me that you know they practiced their words & read. They do not need to turn in the actual activity. I will only be checking the logs on FRIDAY. During the second nine weeks, a Reading Log will be added to the binder. It contains more information about what the students read. Math will be assigned on an as-need basis in the Math Homework workbook.

Math Videos The second grade teachers created math videos that will show you how a strategy is being used with examples. This will help you understand what your child is doing and will help with any math homework assigned. Go to the Evans City webpage Teacher Websites Under ‘T’, “Teacher Workspace – Grade 2” Videos are listed by the math units Find the video you need and enjoy

Positive Behavior Our classroom is focused on positive behavior!
Students can earn Caught Being Good tickets throughout the day. These will convert into Class Dojo points. Students will get a “hole punch” on a chart if they earned tickets and/or points for the day. They will use their ticket chart to turn in for prizes once they have filled them.

Let’s create an amazing classroom community
We’ll build a positive culture by encouraging skills like “Helping others” and “Perseverance”. We want all parents engaged in our classroom, seeing what we’re learning every day!
13
How we’ll use ClassDojo :)
As a teacher, I will: Post important updates and announcements Share photos and videos of our classroom activities Students can also share their classwork on their own digital portfolio. Only their family will be able to view their work.
14
What do parents see? You’ll see the “Story” of our classroom: photos and videos of big moments, important updates, plus your child’s digital portfolio! You can also view a “report” of your child’s feedback for skills we are encouraging in class.
