Religion in the Wednesday wars

Catechism Complete doctrinal manuals of the catholic and christian churches Used in the religious teaching of children and adult converts The official catechism of the catholic church is quite extensive

Jewish beliefs First religion to practice monotheism (what does that mean?!?) There is an emphasis on questioning rather than blindly accepting truths The Tanach is their bible A major part of the tanach is the torah, which consists the first of five books from the Hebrew bible: genesis, exodus, Leviticus, numbers, and Deuteronomy. Jews tend not to focus on the literal interpretation of their bible.

Bar Mitzvah Bar Mitzvah translates to “a son who is subject to the law” Bat Mitzvah is the female equivalent At age 13, jewish boys are accountable for their actions Prior to this, their parents are accountable for everything they do As part of the bar mitzvah, the boy is traditionally responsible for reading a part of the torah or leading a prayer service in front of a congregation of jews. Often they will also give a speech relating the torah to their life

Protestantism Basically, Christian religions founded in “protest” to Catholicism The Great Awakening in the 1800’s paved the way for many protestant religions to gain prominence in the USA Presbyterianism, the religion of Holling HoodHood, is a protestant religion

So What?!? Write about how you would feel in Holling’s Shoes. How would it feel to have no place in the most prominent societies where you lived? Has there ever been a time in your life when you have felt left out by friends or family because you didn’t agree with them about something? What did you do or What would you do if that happened to you?
