Overlook Industrial maintenance technicians repair and perform preventative maintenance on assembly systems. They commonly work in factories. At Continental Tire, most seem to spend a good deal of time jacking around.

Some employers provide on-the-job training, although completion of apprenticeship or degree program may be preferred

A Day In The Life of An Industrial Electrician/ Maintenance Technician
While at work, they ride bicycles; which are typically used to carry supplies and tools. From what I have observed in my time spent at Continental is that the Maintenance workers really don’t do much. Unless a machine is broken, they pretty much just ride around on their bikes or shoot the bull with people.

Concerns Technology is constantly changing.
There could be a new machine that you don’t know how to fix. It’s a dangerous job.

Why I Chose This Path Short amount of time spent in school
The Industrial Electronics & Maintenance Technology course at Rend Lake College is a two year program, which includes a short internship Good starting salary right after school. I can make around $49,000 right after college.

From Here to There I am going to Attend Rend Lake College.
During my degree, there is an apprenticeship program. Once I complete my schooling, I will start full time doing Maintenance at a factory such as Continental Tire.
