The Results There are times when we can get discouraged when we teach the Gospel. We think we have covered every argument and we get no response.
3
The Results We can read the New Testament and present it in a similar manner expecting some similar results. Luke 10:1-12 – the seventy are sent out Luke 10:17-20 – the seventy came back fully encouraged because of the response to their work
4
The Results Acts 2:14-39 – the first Gospel sermon is preached
Acts 2:40-41 – about 3000 gladly received the word and were baptized Acts 8:5-13 – many in Samaria believed and were baptized
5
The Results All too often we get something quite different.
Acts 7:44-60 – we might get a similar result Acts 26:24-28 – we might get this similar result
6
The Results No matter what happens we should continue to teach the Gospel. Acts 14: Iconium – Paul and Barnabas taught, many believed. The Jews stirred up the people and poisoned their minds. The people tried to take them by force. Lystra – the people were so idolatrous they tried to worship them. Paul was stoned and dragged out of the city. Derbe – they preached and many obeyed
7
The Results Acts 17: Thessalonica – Paul taught, people believed, and the Jews incited a riot Berea – the people are described as being more fair-minded
8
The Results We must remember some simple basics of God’s word. 1. Isaiah 55:8-13 – God’s word will accomplish what God intends 2. John 17:17 – God’s word is truth 3. Heb. 4:12 – it is sharp 4. 2 Tim. 3:16-17 – it is profitable
9
The Results We don’t know how anyone will respond to the Gospel; we only know that we should teach the Gospel Acts 26:29 – we want people to respond to the Gospel Rom. 10:1 – we want others to be saved Acts 28:25-28 – we want all to hear the Gospel to be healed
10
The Results We ought to be like the first century Christians who continued to preach the Christ no matter the situation of the circumstances. Acts 8:4 – they scattered preaching Phil. 1:13 – the palace guard and everyone else heard the Gospel, cf. Acts 8:15
11
The Results The results of teaching the Gospel are black and white; some will obey and some will not. We don’t determine who obeys. We do determine who hears. Who hears you? What do they hear?
12
And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written:
“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!” Romans 10:15
