6 How we Affect the Amazon
Every year gigantic areas of the Amazon are cut down or burned for farming land. Large scale destruction and deforestation by big corporations has a lasting effect in permanently reducing the size of the Amazon rain forest. At the current rate, in two decades the Amazon Rainforest will be reduced by 40%.

7 How the Amazon Affects us
The atmosphere of the planet would change dramatically if the Amazon was destroyed, because the massive levels of carbon dioxide released would cause the planets temperature to skyrocket. It takes in so much carbon dioxide that it is currently the largest factor preventing global warming. The Amazon’s daily freshwater discharge into the Atlantic is enough to supply New York City’s freshwater needs for nine years.
