9. Reducing Fertility
Oral contraceptive pills contain hormones that prevent the release of eggs from the ovaries.
The Pill contains oestrogen which inhibits FSH production, so no eggs mature.

WHY?
The first birth control pills contained large amounts of oestrogen – bad side effects!
Birth control pills now contain a much lower dose of oestrogen, along with progesterone, resulting in fewer side effects.

Women can be given hormones to stimulate the release of eggs from the ovaries (fertility drugs)
This fertility drug is FSH which stimulates eggs to mature (IVF)
