Background The Potomac Yard Station is a proposed Metrorail in-fill station on the Blue & Yellow Lines between Braddock Road and National Airport stations. The Federal Transit Administration (FTA), the National Park Service (NPS), the City of Alexandria, and WMATA are preparing an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) to consider the potential environmental effects of the station. The City selected Alternative B as the preferred alternative in May 2015. Completion of the environmental evaluation is expected in the Spring of 2016.

Station Characteristics
The station will be located east of the existing Metrorail tracks and north of the Potomac Greens neighborhood. The station is considered an urban station meaning that it does not include parking, a bus loop or a kiss-and-ride. The station will have two entrances, one at each end of the station. Access to and from the station will be via pedestrian bridges to the west and a pedestrian ramp to Potomac Greens. The south pedestrian bridge will be open 24 hours a day to provide access across the rail corridor at all times. Access to the station from this bridge will be blocked when Metrorail is closed for business.
