7 Media Ownership The Media industry is vast and the range of content is ever increasing But who owns it? For your summer task you need to carry out some research and write a report into the following: How is the TV industry funded and how does this effect programming? (Include a breakdown of British TV – who are the main players?)

8 Some questions to answer
1) How much is the License Fee? Who pays? What does it pay for? 2) How is ITV funded? What are some of the most successful adverts that have been shown? What are the advertising prices? 2) How much are some of the different Sky Packages/Virgin packages? What do you get in each one? 4) How much does it cost to place an advert on Dave, sky Living and other stations? Find some examples… 5) Which programmes are sponsored by which products? Find some examples. Why is sponsorship attractive to some companies? 6) What is product placement? How have the rules recently changed for British TV? Give some examples of where it has been used. 7. How are TV broadcasters ensuring that their content is available on  multiple platforms? 8. Are there any companies that only broadcast online? How do audiences access them? What do they have to offer? Are they forming relationships with any of the providers of subscription services?
