OUR PRIORITIES A crucial part of our work post-16
To ensure that all post-16 students studying with us are safe and supported; To provide high quality care to ensure all students have access to the services and support required as they move into adulthood; To deliver a ‘Guidance’ programme that aims to offer an appropriate level of information to prepare our students to be ‘future-ready’.

A year-long programme of education delivered during tutor times and assemblies. Our Guidance programme is split into three key areas: CAREERS & DESTINATIONS PERSONAL, SOCIAL & HEALTH EDUCATION STUDY SKILLS

THE GUIDANCE PROGRAMME
CAREERS & DESTINATIONS A year-long programme of education delivered during tutor times and assemblies. We support students to progress to university, higher-level apprenticeships and employment. We partner with many professional organisations including the Co-operative Group, Jaguar Land Rover, Carillion, Walsall College, University of Birmingham, University of Liverpool, and many more. Every student will be scheduled multiple appointments with our dedicated Careers Officer Mrs Allen.

PERSONAL, SOCIAL & HEALTH EDUCATION A year-long programme of education delivered during tutor times and assemblies. We partner with professional organisations including the NHS, Staffordshire Police, MIND, and others, to provide professional guidance and support. Key topics include: Road Safety E-safety, Internet Use and Social Media Personal Health & Hygiene Awareness and Misuse of Drugs & Alcohol Sexual Health Stress Management Healthy Relationships

THE GUIDANCE PROGRAMME
STUDY SKILLS A year-long programme of education delivered during tutor times and assemblies. We draw on staff’s specialist interests to offer guidance relating to: Independent Study Skills Effective Revision Techniques Time Management Exam Technique Effective Home Learning We also use the Sixth Form Intervention System as a way of supporting students who may fall behind.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT Support is available for eligible students.
16-19 Bursary, for all students who may face financial barriers (please see Miss J Roden for more details). The discretionary bursary may be used by eligible students to cover the costs incurred that are an essential part of studies, e.g., trips, resources, text books, etc.

PARENTAL SUPPORT As parents, we ask for your support in the following ways: Be in regular contact with us, keeping us informed if your son/daughter will be absent, is unwell or if we should have a reason to be concerned; Attend parents evenings, discuss academic reports and be involved; Access available services, including Show My Homework; Help us help you.
