January 26th 2017 – Relocation Update

3 Background Need for change Current state is unsustainable
Size of Membership cannot support our aging facilities in the long-term. Risk of a major facility failure(s) led to the creation of the Relocation Committee nearly 4 years ago.

4 Relocation Committee Role - seek out potential North Shore sites and partners to allow a potential move. 5 parameters The location must be on the North Shore The location must be within 15 minutes of the highway There must be no disruption of services There must be no additional costs to the Members Must be of similar size & offering

5 Long Range Planning Committee
Existing facility – due diligence Capital asset evaluation and plan Relocation Committee became part of the Long Range Planning Committee. 3 primary areas of focus: Relocation Amenities Replace/Renovate

6 Potential Opportunity
We are very pleased to share this potential, time sensitive opportunity with our Members and introduce our potential partner. 4 key items to be stressed: No deal or agreements have been made The potential relocation might not happen The Membership will vote before any commitment The parameters of this opportunity could change

7 NSWC Survey Member survey on upgrades/additions to the Club.
240 Members completed

8 Survey Results Agreed that the Club should add new amenities and also explore financing options

9 Agreed or strongly agreed to the statement…"the Club needs to make major aesthetic improvements"

10 Agreed or strongly agreed to the statement… "the Club should actively explore relocation" 

11 Amenity Upgrades The following have been identified as important for increasing Member satisfaction and growing the Member base: NEW AMENITIES Gymnasium/Multi Sport Area Additional Fitness Area Second Large Ice Rink Additional Racquet Courts Soccer/Outdoor Play Area Art/Music Rooms UPDATED AMENITIES Men/Ladies Locker Rooms Casual Dining Year Round Pool Outdoor Tennis Courts Grab & Go Food/Beverage A detailed amenity report will include results from both surveys & focus groups.

12 Board Goals The Board goals for the Relocation or Renovation are:
To engage and inform the Membership as much as possible and as transparently as possible. To ensure the Membership understands all the options, challenges and risks before being asked to vote on the potential relocation. To ensure that, whatever the outcome, the future wellbeing and risk mitigation of the Club is enhanced through this process, and that Member Value is increased as a result.

13 Darwin Properties We are very please to introduce Darwin Properties and the potential new site of the NSWC.  

14 Next Steps We will continue to work with Darwin on the framework of the potential relocation opportunity. Two Open Houses with more information in the next days. Detailed reports for the Membership, including the recommendations of the LRPC & Board, by March 10th, Vote by the membership on relocation opportunity
