35 DAILY US HISTORY The Week of May 17 MONDAY-B internment camps- the detention centers where Japanese Americans were moved to and confined during World War II ration- to give out scarce items on a limited basis D-Day- the day on which the Allied forces invaded France during World War II; June genocide- the deliberate destruction of a racial, political, or cultural group Objectives- 1) Discuss what steps America took to prepare for the war. 2) Explain how the war affected Americans Language Objectives- 1Using a series of short videos, show how everyday life was for most Americans during the war Using a short video, show how life was for the Nisei. Why di they not place those of German and Italian descent into camps? Part of this was fear over the attack on Pearl harbor, The other part is racism, the Japanese people looked different and where mistrusted because of it.
