Class choice Consider: No Tracking Work Through the Rigor:
Interest Independent Work Ethic/Internal Motivation Area of Strength Teacher Recommendation Time Available for Study Balance of Overall Schedule Emotional Well-Being Sleep No Tracking Work Through the Rigor: Drop Add Form Mailed in Late May. All Changes to Course Requests due Friday, June 16th No Elective Changes after that point Any Level Change Requests during the year would follow HHS course change request procedure GPA: Weight and Impact (Honors & Dual Enrolled = 0.5, AP = 1.0) You do not have to take 7 APs to get into a ‘good’ college

Teacher Recommendations: Core and World Language Mailed Home at End of January Students Select Courses Through StudentVUE: Last Week in January Counselors Meet Individually with Students for Scheduling: February – April Four Year Plans Academic Advising Drop Add Form and Course Selections Mailed Home: Late May All Changes to Course Requests due to Counselor by Friday, June 16th Drop Add Forms Required with Parent Signature

Impact of Dropping a Course
Beginning of School Until One Week After First Quarter Report Cards: No academic record on transcript No impact on GPA After First Quarter Report Cards Until End of First Semester: ‘F’ penalty for the semester grade Semester grade recorded on transcript No credit awarded Half-attempt factored into GPA End of First Semester Until One Week After Second Quarter Report Cards: Impact of Dropping a Course All requests to drop must go through the Heritage High School Course Change Request Procedure to include: -Attempted Strategies for Success -Parent, Teacher, Counselor, Student Input and Communication -Approval by School Administrator -Process Facilitated by School Counselor -Space may be limited in other available classes

Standard Diploma Courses Advanced Studies Diploma Courses English: 4 Eng 9, Eng 10, Eng 11, Eng 12 Math: 3 Algebra 1 and above Science: 3 At least 2 different science disciplines History & Social Science: 3 WH1 or WH2, US Va Hist, Gov’t Health and PE: 2 World Language, Fine Arts, Career & Tech Ed : 2 Econ and Personal Finance: 1 Electives: 4 2 must be sequential TOTAL: 22 English: 4 Eng 9, Eng 10, Eng 11, Eng 12 Math: 4 Must reach Alg 2 or above Science: 4 At least 3 different science disciplines History & Social Science: 4 WH1, WH2, US Va Hist, Gov’t Health and PE: 2 World Language: 3 3 years of 1 language, or 2 years of 1 language + 2 of another language Fine Arts or Career and Tech Ed: 1 Econ and Personal Finance: 1 Electives: 3 TOTAL: 26
