2. Lismore is located on the banks of the Wilson River and is the business centre of the Northern Rivers of NSW. The area was explored in 1828 by Henry Rous in his boat “The Rainbow”. It was then home to the last Aquarius Festival in This history and the diverse culture gives the area the name of The Rainbow Region.

3. Just 5 minutes from town, Lismore has a small local airport which is serviced by REX Airlines. The Ballina Byron Gateway Airport is 30 minutes away and has flights with Virgin Australia, Jetstar, REX and AeroPelican. Lismore is also conveniently located just over an hour from the Gold Coast Airport

4. The Lismore Workers Club will be the venue for the Friendship Room, Registrations, the welcome ceremony, dinners and the remembrance service.
It has a large auditorium and two other function areas, a bistro and coffee shop. There is disabled access and plenty of parking. The club is on the edge of the CBD

From the Workers Club to the other end of the CBD is around 650m. Within walking distance of the club are at least 210 motel rooms. There are also a handful of accommodation venues located outside this area from South Lismore to Goonellabah which provides plenty of accommodation to suit all tastes and budgets .

6. The Bounty Motel, located next door to the Workers Club, will be the conference motel.

The campus is located 4km from the CBD and buses will be available to transfer you from the CBD to the campus.

8. The Rainbow Region is between the beautiful beaches of Ballina and Byron Bay and the mountains of the hinterland. This area offers some wonderful and diverse scenery

9. The area is well known for its extensive agricultural offerings including coffee, avacados, blueberries, sugar cane and macadamias. It is home of the native Coral Tree and elusive Birdwing Butterfly

10. Many of the tours will take you to explore the wonderful cultural, historical and picturesque areas and villages including the Tweed Valley, home of Mount Warning and the Margaret Olley Art Gallery, the iconic Byron Bay Lighthouse, Nimbin, and the Summerland House Farm. For the men we will offer a visit to the Evans Head Air Museum and the Ballina Naval Museum or a tour of the Lismore recycle centre and botanic gardens.

11. Lismore is known for its vibrant art/music scene, markets, fresh produce, historic building and people from all walks of life. There are those living the sustainable organic life at Nimbin as well as farmers and international university students. The region is also known for its music festivals such as Spendour in the Grass and The BluesFest and the Byron Bay Film Festival.

12. In your free time we suggest taking in the vibrant art work of our alleys, visiting our arcade and indulging in some retail therapy. Perhaps you may chose to explore the world of organic food and visit alternative medicine practitioners. Or sample the wares of one of the twenty plus food outlets in our CBD. Or stroll through the rose garden and along the river bank. Our people, activities and landmarks offer all of the colours of the rainbow

13. Around 100m from the Workers Club us a small shopping centre with a Woolworth. The major shopping centre, supermarkets and department stores as well as 80 specialty shops are located at the Lismore Shopping Square, a short distance from the CBD.
