Pollution Control Measures
2
How to control NO and NO2 Emissions
Automobiles all new autos must have a catalytic converter. Catalytic converter can only function with unleaded gas. Factories can reduce emissions by: Reduce burn temperatures Reduce oxygen Incomplete combustion increases particulate matter and CO emissions.

How to control particulate matter?
Scrubber Uses a combination of water and air and forms liquid sludge is then removed and 100% clean air is emitted Electrostatic precipitators Uses an electrical charge to capture particles which then can be removed Fabric Filters Called baghouse filters can remove almost 100% of the particulate matter Gravitational settling Gravity settles out particles traveling through the smoke stack and ash is removed and buried in a landfill.

Worldwide what are some innovative pollution control measures for smog?
VOC reduction Limit gasoline spilled while pumping Restrict use of lighter fluid for barbeques Eliminate wood burning stoves and fireplaces in new construction Even limiting the number of bakeries!

Controlling Automobile Use
Mexico City: use of vehicle every other day China/Olympics: expanded public transportation, imposed motor vehicle restrictions, and shut down some industries. Reducing the number of vehicles with the introduction of car pool lanes. Toll roads at certain times of day to reduce traffic
