1 How to answer questions on the Unit 3 Paper

2 The key to the Unit 3 exam is to explain a point in detail using connected sentences. Once you have this skill, you will score well on longer questions as well. You need a series of connected sentences that explain that benefit or disadvantage. These sentences can be linked by words such as: Therefore, because of, as a result of, this means that, furthermore, additionally….. One advantage of charging lower prices is that a business will be able to attract customers with smaller budgets (1). This means that the business will increase the size of it’s potential target market (1) and because of this will hopefully be able to increase sales and improve profits (1).

5 CONTEXT! Context is required if there is a specific business in the question. Simply mentioning the name of the business is not context. Context could be referencing the businesses product, it’s potential customers, something from the case study (although not if it is in that direct question) or an aspect of its operations. Your answer needs to be about that business and not any type of business.

20 Tasks: Complete the A3 worksheet. Re-read and look for two things to improve. Switch worksheets with a partner. Read their work looking for strengths and weaknesses. Provide feedback to your partner. Tell them two things they did well and one (two maximum!) things they could improve in their write up. Look at your own sheet and consider anything you would like to change. Mark the changes on your sheet.
