2. VIVA Budget Update Likely 5% cut for FY17

3. Zepheira Linked Data Pilot
VIVA will be partnering with Zepheira and Atlas Systems to conduct a Linked Data pilot. 
Up to 100,000 MARC records representing archival or special collections materials will be transformed into Linked Data and published to the Web. 
Zepheira will help all VIVA institutions learn how to join the Library.Link Network via three webinars.

$20,000 of VIVA Central Funds are available to support faculty reviews of OTN materials.
These funds will be distributed on a first come/first served basis.

Workshops are underway, and funding allocations have begun.
If you are a school without a Campus or System Leader:
You or your faculty may be able to attend a workshop at a neighboring institution.
A Campus or System Leader may be able to provide a workshop for your faculty.
VIVA may host another Train the Trainer workshop next year.

7. OCLC’s Move of ILLiad to WorldShare
The committee met with Jennifer Corsi from OCLC on Tuesday to discuss the move of ILLiad to WorldShare.
OCLC is starting with libraries that use ILLiad “out of the box” with few customizations.
Two VIVA libraries (Christendom and Lynchburg) are early adopters that began to use the new software in November, and 14 more have been invited.
As the phased development continues, and the product is refined, larger and more specialized libraries will be invited to contribute and adopt.

8. OCLC’s Move of ILLiad to WorldShare
Key issues raised during the meeting include:
A large workload in migration is anticipated for many libraries, especially those with customizations, as much of the migration cannot be automated.
The new software, at its current development stage, lacks many of the features needed by VIVA libraries, although some of the needs discussed at the meeting are scheduled to be developed in later stages.
The move to a cloud architecture will not allow local customization and development in the same way that a client-server architecture has allowed.
It is unknown how long the current form of ILLiad will be supported, but it will be at least for the next few years.
There are possible budget implications, especially for libraries that currently host ILLiad themselves.

10. RFP for Ebook Collections
VIVA has awarded four contracts for the RFP for Ebook Collections: Brill, Oxford University Press, Taylor & Francis, and Wiley.

11. RFP for Ebook Collections: ILL Rights
VIVA member institutions may lend entire, DRM- free ebooks, including all of their chapters, via Interlibrary Loan to other institutions for non- commercial use.
For Wiley, this only pertains to purchased titles.
The Resource Sharing Committee will be developing best practices on lending whole ebooks as allowed under these contracts.

12. RFP for Ebook Collections: T&DM
All contracts include provisions for text and data mining.
Please read the contracts if your researchers are interested in making use of this option. 

13. RFP for Ebook Collections: Pricing
Pricing spreadsheets are available on the VIVA contracts page: dex.html.
Institutions should opt in for individual subjects/packages by February 1, 2017.
Surveys for opting in will be distributed in December.

14. RFP for Ebook Collections: Brill
Perpetual access ebooks, 2016 Frontlist.
The public institutions will share Language & Linguistics, Literature and Cultural Studies, and Social Sciences.
Public and private institutions can opt in for subject packages.
There is a Pooled Funds offer for the private institutions to consider.

15. RFP for Ebook Collections: OUP
Perpetual access ebooks, 2017 Frontlist.
The public institutions will share:
Columbia University Press; MIT Press; New York University Press; Stanford University Press; University of California Press; University of Chicago Press; University of Mississippi Press; University of Minnesota Press; University of North Carolina Press; University Press of Florida; University Press of Kentucky; and Yale University Press.
Public and private institutions can opt in for UPSO presses OR subject packages.
There is an opt-in offer for Oxford Medicine Online.

16. RFP for Ebook Collections: T&F
Evidenced based e-book selection model of CRCnetBASE content and TFE/Routledge titles, beginning with 2016 and 2017 content. VIVA will maintain the ENGnetBASE backfile.
Titles will NOT roll out of the plan during the contract. It will be ~8,000 titles to start with ~4,000 titles added each year.
Purchased titles may be individually held or shared; this is still under discussion.
Private institutions can opt in to the plan.
There are discounts for additional perpetual access purchases made by individual institutions.

17. RFP for Ebook Collections: Wiley
Usage based e-book selection model that includes access to all OnlineBooks on Wiley Online Library (frontlist and backlist monographs, not Current Protocols, Reference Works, or Databases). 
Approximately 19,000 titles and growing; libraries will maintain access to the full range of content as long as the contract is renewed.
Purchased titles will be shared by the participants.
Private institutions can opt in to the plan.
There are discounts for additional perpetual access purchases made by individual institutions.

18. Kanopy Streaming Media
VIVA is beginning a new pilot PDA plan with Kanopy for its streaming media collection of over 26,000 films from 800 producers.
Central funds will pay for PDA programs at the public institutions that will cover access for at least the period from January 1 to June 30, 2017.  Private institutions should opt in before November 30th.
Purchases will be triggered upon the fourth independent use of a given title at an individual institution.  Purchased titles will be locally-held titles.   

19. RFP for Multidisciplinary Databases
This RFP will take place in 2017; the current contract expires June 30, 2018.
Committee members representing VIVA institutions will be:
Beth Blanton-Kent (UVA, Chair), Georgie Donovan (CWM), Accacia Mullen (VMI), Crystal Newell (PVCC), Shaunna Hunter (Hampden-Sydney).

20. VIVA Collections Forum
The next Collections Forum will take place on May 19, at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Planned topics include VIVA’s Value Metric Task Force, the Zepheira Pilot, E-books, Procurement and Licensing, Marketing and Outreach, Usage Statistics, and much more.
The organizing committee is:
